Each spring, Elkin Bands host instrumental rental nights for incoming band students to come select their instrument. You do not need previous musical experience and this also provides the opportunity to meet the director and see all of the possibilities for you in band! There will also be an opportunity for students in the fall after school begins.
During the placement fair you will try three different instruments to see which one fits you best! Sometimes the instrument you come in wanting to play is very different from the instrument we find works for you best! You always want to choose and instrument that will be easiest for you to play. Most students will know what instrument they will play after attending one instrument placement fair.
After selecting an instrument our amazing company we work with called Music and Arts will have representatives to guide you in obtaining or renting an instrument. Students will start on either flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trombone, or trumpet. Later in the school year they will be given the opportunity to audition to play other instruments such as: french horn, euphonium, tuba, and percussion.

Placements for 5th grade students will begin
April 18th from 5:30pm & 7:30pm at Elkin Elementary in the gym.
The next opportunity will be
August 22nd from 5:30pm-7:00pm at Elkin Middle School Band Room​

Any student who acquires an instrument on their own must have it checked by Ms. Shepherd to ensure it's the best fit as well as the quality for long term usage.
